Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) committed to building a just, vibrant, and climate-resilient future for people and communities in Maine and other rural regions. With a wide array of programs supporting small businesses, workforce development, and environmental sustainability, CEI plays a vital role in fostering equitable economic opportunity across the state and beyond.
As CEI rolled out a new strategic plan, its website no longer reflected the scale of its impact or served the needs of its diverse stakeholders. The organization needed a modern, accessible digital platform that could clearly organize content, guide users to action, and grow alongside its evolving goals.
Gecko led a full website redesign and brand review, delivering a custom WordPress site optimized for accessibility, performance, SEO, and mobile use. We restructured navigation for intuitive wayfinding, implemented smart content funnels for key audiences, and built a flexible backend that empowers CEI’s team to manage updates with ease.
Our partnership expanded to include CEI’s annual report and the design and development of a statewide Women’s Business Center website, featuring a searchable business directory, self-managed profiles, and downloadable marketing resources—extending CEI’s impact through clear, scalable digital tools.
