Center for Great Lakes Literacy

Making Waves in Science Education

The Center for Great Lakes Literacy (CGLL) is a NOAA-supported initiative uniting Sea Grant educators across the Great Lakes region. Their mission is to promote literacy, stewardship, and sustainability through free, data-rich educational materials for teachers, students, and the broader scientific community.

Challenge
Solution

The legacy CGLL site was retired due to accessibility issues, leaving a gap in delivering lessons, resources, and Great Lakes science data. With renewed funding and a growing curriculum library, CGLL needed a modern, scalable platform. Gecko created an accessible WordPress site with intuitive navigation, flexible content architecture, advanced search, and nine unique filtering taxonomies to connect educators with resources quickly. The site also highlights academic partners and includes a refreshed TGLL logo to strengthen the initiative’s identity within the broader CGLL platform.
