A New Digital Gateway
The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting the unique natural and cultural landscapes of the Thousand Islands region in upstate New York. Since its founding in 1985, TILT has preserved over 12,000 acres through conservation easements, land acquisitions, and public-access projects that connect people to nature.
TILT’s outdated Drupal 7 site was difficult to manage, visually dated, and no longer meeting core needs like guiding visitors, showcasing conservation work, or supporting donations. Gecko migrated the site to WordPress and led a full redesign centered on user experience—streamlining navigation through audience journey mapping, creating intuitive pathways for hikers, donors, and professionals, and delivering a refreshed, mobile-friendly platform built for long-term sustainability. Following launch, TILT extended the partnership by engaging Gecko to design and configure interactive A/V displays for its new Discovery Center, connecting people to place both online and in person.
