TILT: Discovery Center
Exploring the Land Through Interactive Storytelling
Gecko Designs partnered with the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) to create a series of interactive audiovisual displays for their new Discovery Center. Designed to educate and inspire visitors, each touchscreen experience blends storytelling, imagery, and data to bring TILT’s conservation mission to life. Using custom flowcharts, Gecko mapped every user journey and developed a unified backend within TILT’s WordPress site, allowing staff to easily update content for each display.
TILT needed an immersive, visitor-friendly way to interpret complex environmental and cultural stories within the Discovery Center. The challenge was creating multiple digital exhibits that felt cohesive, intuitive, and easy for staff to manage long-term. Gecko’s solution combined thoughtful UX design, custom CMS development, and multimedia storytelling to create a connected network of interactive displays. Each screen offers a seamless, self-guided experience that empowers visitors to explore TILT’s landscapes, history, and mission at their own pace.
