Modernized Website to the Rescue!
The Humane Society of Western Montana (HSWM) offers pet adoption, behavioral health programs, low-cost veterinary care, a food bank, and more—but their decade-old website no longer conveyed this full scope or guided visitors to critical actions. They needed a modern, user-focused platform built on WordPress that would clearly showcase each service, simplify backend management for staff, and streamline pathways for adopting, donating, volunteering, and registering for programs.
HSWM’s previous website focused heavily on pet adoption while burying critical services, like behavioral health, low-cost veterinary care, and the food bank, within long, hard-to-navigate pages. In addition, an outdated CMS made updates difficult for staff while limiting clear paths for visitors to donate, volunteer, or engage. Gecko restructured the sitemap and introduced an intuitive mega-menu, integrated a Petango feed for browsing adoptable animals, and built a filterable events calendar with online registration. Dedicated Volunteer and Donate pages with FAQs, waiver forms, and direct Bloomerang integration now make it easy for supporters to take action, while a streamlined backend gives staff full control over content management.
